RIOJA ALTA
With an Atlantic climate and clay-limestone, ferrous-clay and alluvial soils, Rioja Alta holds the highest concentration of century-old wineries in the world. It has the most area under vine at 27,347 ha.

RIOJA ALAVESA
The northernmost region has a predominating Atlantic climate and clay-limestone soils divided into terraces and small plots combining to 13,389 ha.

RIOJA ORIENTAL
Known as Rioja Baja until 2018, the easternmost region has 24,390 ha under vine and has the driest and warmest climate thanks to the influence of the nearby Mediterranean.
