We are pleased to present the ALSA Education Series as an added benefit to our members. This bi-weekly series online videos covers a range of topics and is hosted by Heather Kingston, ISG Certified Sommelier, and co-host Seanna Collins. Members are notified via e-mail when the latest 5–8 minute segment is available on the ALSA website along with printable course notes for each session that you can keep in a binder.

Heather Kingston received her International Sommelier Guild Diploma in November 2007. She has been busy ever since, sharing her passion for wine with others as a teacher for various wine and spirit classes for Continuing Education. She is also a writer, with her independent Wine-A-Lot feature for an Alberta newspaper, and has her own private wine tasting company. Heather is proud to be the Alberta Liquor Store Association’s Wine and Spirit Educator, delivering education to over 550 Association members in Alberta. Heather is pleased to share her knowledge with you. Raise a glass to that!

Liquor Mark-Up Rolled Back
Premier Ed Stelmach announced the government is rolling back the liquor mark-up. This rollback means that liquor mark-up rates will be reduced about 30 per cent. This is a return to the mark-up rates that were established in 2002. Download Mark-Up Rates to Desktop (PDF)

GOOD NEWS! Liquor Tax Increase Rescinded
Premier Ed Stelmach announced that effective midnight, Wednesday July 8th, the liquor tax increase that was imposed in the April 2009 Budget will be fully rescinded and revert back to pre-April mark-up values.
